This country cottage is nestled in an elevated position in the small hamlet of Clytha Hill, an area lying just to the east of Abergavenny, renowned for its outstanding beauty and rural setting within the Monmouthshire Vale of Usk. About 1.5 miles from the larger village of Bettws Newydd which sits alongside the bank of the river and is overlooked by prehistoric tumuli on the surrounding hillside, the area is home to some of the most ancient yew trees in Wales and there are several footpaths leading to the Usk Valley Path and the Clytha Estate, an 18th Century landscaped park managed by the National Trust. There are two well-known public houses nearby: the Black Bear Inn in Bettws Newydd and theClytha Arms which can be found at the bottom of the hill. Given its countryside position, the wider vicinity is well known for a wide range of outdoor activities and pursuits.
For more comprehensive shopping and leisure facilities, the market towns of Usk, Raglan and Abergavenny are close-by, offering a wide selection of boutique style shops, grocery and newsagent stores, supermarkets, doctor’s and dentist’s surgeries and many well-known high street shops. Abergavenny also hosts a market several times a week and the town enjoys its own cinema and leisure centre as well as several restaurants for evening entertainment. The area is well served by schools for all ages. Abergavenny railway station has regular services into central London and Cardiff via Newport, whilst the M4 (10-15 minutes via Usk) gives easy access to the motorway for Bristol, Birmingham, the South West and London and “A” routes for Monmouth, Hereford, Cwmbran and Cardiff.
